
L.A. Intergroup – Area 1 Trustee Election
Voting for the Area 1 Trustees will be conducted electronically for members of Gamblers Anonymous groups within the Los Angeles Intergroup.
Voting Dates
Voting will be open from 12:00 AM (00:00) on March 10, 2026 through 11:59 PM (23:59) on March 31, 2026.
Ballots submitted outside of this voting period will not be counted.
Voting Instructions
Each member may cast one (1) ballot.
Members may vote for up to three (3) candidates for Area 1 Trustee.
Selecting more than three (3) candidates will void the ballot.
If a member submits more than one ballot, only the first ballot received will be counted.
Before casting a vote, members must provide the following information:

First name and last initial

Home Group (example: Westlake Tuesday)
Candidates & Biographies
Candidates are listed alphabetically by first name and last initial, along with their date of abstinence and home group.
Each candidate may also include a biography of 50 words or fewer, submitted to the L.A. Intergroup Chairman.
special conditions
Tie-Breaking Procedure
If a tie exists between the third and fourth candidates, a special tie-breaking election will be held between those candidates following the same procedures mentioned previously.
If a tie still exists, a run-off election will be held at the May Intergroup meeting, where only Group Secretaries or Acting Secretaries may vote.
No-Contest Scenario
If the number of nominees does not exceed the number of available trustee positions, L.A. Intergroup may confirm the nominees as Trustees-Elect without holding an election, as adopted September 19, 2021.
Confidentiality & Validation
After voting closes:

Ballots will be reviewed electronically to confirm which votes are valid and which are void.

Ballots will be counted by three (3) Gamblers Anonymous members from three different Areas.

The three candidates receiving the highest number of votes will be declared the Area 1 Trustees.
The final tabulated results will be sent confidentially to the L.A. Intergroup Chairman and announced at the April Intergroup meeting.
